Public BBQ

A quiet, scenic pocket of the Moreton Bay foreshore built around the wreck of HMQS Gayundah, commissioned in 1885 as a gunboat guarding the waterways, later a training vessel, and beached here in 1958 to serve as a breakwater. She is now home to a great many waterbirds. The site has its own car park and walkways leading to a viewing platform, with words of advice painted onto the rocks along the way. Picnic tables and barbecue facilities make it family friendly, and there is ample seating right by the water plus good shade on the flat — ideal for a relaxed lunch or a sunset stroll. Two things to know: the entrance is one-way and easy to drive past, and the pathways are steep enough to be slow going for anyone with limited mobility.

Generally No! The BBQs are first come, first serve. However, if you plan on having a larger event then please check with Moreton Bay council.

You should first check with Moreton Bay council about the rules and restrictions.

Generally, it is permissible to utilize your own gas BBQ, provided it remains under continuous supervision. However, the usage of Charcoal BBQ's is typically restricted, with the exception of parks equipped with designated charcoal disposal bins.
